Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How do Staryu and Starmie perceive the world around them? Do they have eyes in their cores, or do they do something else?

A. Using a mix of sort of a psychic sense and a focus on their other senses. Having an incredible sense of touch, it can sense motion without seeing it.

Q. Are normal Pokémon immune to ghost attacks?

A. No. The anime has shown that normal Pokemon take ghost damage just like any other type.

Q. Are normal Pokémon weak to fighting?

A. By "Fighting type attacks," any physical attack that is a punch, kick, etc. performed by a Pokemon who is capable of dealing significant damage (Machop, not Pikachu), then yes.

Q. Are poison types considered to be weak against psychic?

A. They are indeed weak to psychic attacks.

Q. Quagsire/Wooper vulnerable to electricity?

A. They are water/ground types, so no, they are immune to electric attacks.

Q. Does Dig count as one move or two moves?

A. Unless there are extreme circumstances, such as digging through an extremely tough surface or digging far or deep, then it is one move, not two.

Q. How are "if rounds" reffed in terms of number of attacks and limits to the amount of possibilites? For example: "If he uses a physical attack use Counter, if he uses a special attack use Mirror Coat!"

A. Generally speaking, you can have one IF without penalty, and that IF should come immediately before your final attack of that round (ie. Before your attack for 1 move combos, between your 1st and 2nd attack for 2 move combos, and between your 2nd and 3rd attack for 3 move combos).

Some examples:

"Finish it with a thunderbolt, use two if one's not enough!" - 1 or 2 move combo

"If he's asleep use a Dream Eater, if he's awake use a Tackle" - 1 move combo

"If he uses a physical attack use Counter, if he uses a special attack use Mirror Coat!" - 1 move combo

"If it uses Tackle, use Counter and Dynamicpunch! If it uses anything else, use Reflect and Ancientpower!" - ILLEGAL

Remember also that you're incerring a speed penalty with an IF. You have to wait to see what your oppponent is doing first. In the example of the Counter/Mirror Coat thing, waiting to see what your opponent does before defending will usually mean you don't get the defence up in time to block the majority of the blow, and you'll have a reduced effect from it.

Q. Can Dragonair fly?

A. Yes.

Q. Can Sandshrew fall a long distance and save itself by bouncing?

A. Anything over 50-75ft is no good. x.x''

Q. If a water attack hits Charmander's tail, does it die?

A. No.

Q. What happens when any burning Pokémon such as Typhlosion is hit by Surf?

A. The attack does massive damage. A strong water attack does AT LEAST 2x the damage when it hits direct flames than when it hits a non-flaming part of a fire type, like Charizard's stomach.

Q. Does Smokescreen affect Zubat?

A. No.

Q. Can I really have a double team battle?

A. Yes, the rules for Double Team matches are on the site.

Q. Can refs make up arenas when they start a match?

A. Within reason, yes. We'd rather you use arenas that are on the site, but use imagination, it makes reffing more fun.

Q. If Charizard takes normal damage from water, does it take normal damage from electricity when it is on the ground?

A. Yes, but the electricity could hinder its ability to fly.

Q. If fire Pokemon take normal damage from water unless it hits a flame, then wouldn't Fire type changes also give resistance, but not weakness?

A. Any fire type Pokemon takes slightly more damage from water attacks, although if there is an open flame, of course they do significantly more damage.

Q. Does Light Screen follow the Pokemon who uses it?

A. Yes, as shown in the Raikou special. It can also be used as an attack, with the user ramming the wall into its opponent.

Q. Can a Pokemon move a Light Screen out of the way to do a physical attack? Or will they have to destroy their own Light Screen to do so?

A. A Pokemon has complete control over its Light Screen, so yes, it could move it, or could also disintegrate it instead.

Q. Can a Pokemon have more than one stat change at once?

A. Yes.

Q. When Ditto transforms, does it copy sig moves as well?

A. While Ditto can learn any move its opponent knows, signature moves are completely unique, so no.

Q. How many battles does it take to get my Level 10 Pokemon to level 40, with the rest of my squad?

A. 3 Battles.

Q. How long does a battle have to go on to get points?

A. 5 Rounds.

Q. I've been reading some on going battles and was wondering if the challenger/challenged are able to just describe their actions in the battle like throwing their pokeball onto the field and the sort, or is that just left to the referee?

A. You can act out everything you wish, but let the referee describe the Pokemon and their attacks ^^;

Q. Can your pokemon use all the attacks it's assigned or does it have to progress a certain number of levels like in the games?

A. It can use any attacks it would ever learn during its life. Via TM, HM, levels, breeding, etc.

Q. Can a ghost pokemon die in battle?

A. Yes. It's VERY hard to do though. The only way I see anyone killing a ghost is to get them into solid form (via Foresight or Ice attacks) and then crushing them. ^^;

Q. My squad was approved. Can I take part in matches as of now or does my information have to be uploaded to the site first?

A. You may battle immediately.

Q. Another, my sigs were approved with changes, I don't have to repost them with those changes do I?

A. When you start a battle, you must post your team with the appropriate changes made to them.

Q. How many Eevees can I have? I want a full squad of Eeveelutions!

A. You can have up to 6 Eevees.

Q. Can a pokemon use waterfall to travel up waterfalls or fast currents?

A. Yeah.

Q. How many battles can I participate in?

A. Up to 4. This doesn't include one gym match and any tournament matches.

Q. What is the "one recovery per battle" rule?

A. You can only order one of either Recover, Moonlight, Morning Sun, Moonlight, or any similar attack or signature move per battle. Rest is not included in this.

Q. How many three move combos are allowed per match, per pokemon?

A. Take the number of Pokemon per side in your match and divide that by 3. Round that number up, and there is you answer. Thus, in a 3 on 3 match, you can only use ONE three-move combo total during the entire match, not one per Pokemon.

Q. Would a Type Addition count as special training, and thus disallow a sig move?

A. It's a Special Training.

Q. Is it possible, in realistic rules, and the opponent is really really weak on health, to have a Teleportation Frag? (in other words, could you teleport an opponent 100's of ft. into the air and drop them for an instant KO/kill?)

A. No. No Pokémon (Or trainer for that matter, an important point to mention for the GM) can be teleported anywhere without their consent, and even then, they'll only actually be teleported along with you if it's to the location you both agreed on.

Q. What about a Teleportation Frag involving two Pokemon attempting to occupy the same space at the same time?

A. No. The weaker Pokemon would occupy the space closest to the Teleporter. It's up to the ref exactly how it pans out, but deaths, etc. cannot happen because of that.

Q. Are we alowed odd numbered matches? Like say 4 on 3, or 6 on 5 etc.

A. They can be labeled exhibition matches, but not sanctioned by the league.

Q. Can a pokemon be sent to the pokemon center twice?

A. Yes, but the rounds add up. If the first injury is 2 rounds, and the second is 5 rounds, the Pokemon is there for 7 rounds. oO;
